Do you know what you are putting on your skin? Few women pay attention to the ingredients contained in the cosmetics they are using. The chemicals we put onto our skin are to some degree absorbed into our bodies. Those chemicals can be harmful to your health, and you may not even know it.
It pays to pay attention to what you are using, not only in makeup products but also shampoos, lotions and deodorants. Many of these products on the market to day contain ingredients such as acrylamide, formaldehyde and ethylene oxide – all listed by EPA as carcinogens. These chemicals have been shown to cause cancer in animals, so why would we want to put them onto our bodies?
It doesn’t stop there either – more toxins found in some cosmetics include mercury, lead acetate, formaldehyde, ethyllacrylate, toluene, coal tar and petroleum distillates. Even lipstick is cause for concern as it contains man-made oils, synthetic colors and petroleum based waxes.
It really pays to know what is in the cosmetics you are using and what effect those chemicals can have on your body. Whenever possible, may I suggest switching to earth friendly, natural products to avoid any unforeseen problems from your cosmetics.
