Body Brushing

Body Brushing, what in the world is that? I had never heard of such a thing until recently. I was having a conversation with a friend of mine that has recently starting this practice. She told me that it is similar to a spa experience. The purpose is to stimulate blood and lymph flow in the skin, exfoliate dry dead skin and encourages new cell growth. What then is the purpose of body brushing, or skin brushing as it is also known as? Well, the point is to try to get rid of cellulite, and my friend claims that it seems to be producing results.

The cost was only $10 for a body brush with natural bristles, and she does this every morning. She said you start brushing from your feet upwards, always towards the heart to encourage blood flow back to the heart and encourage lymphatic flow. When brushing you should focus on cellulite prone areas such as your thighs, butt and abdomen (abdomen should be swept in a clock-wise circular motion) and be sure not to brush too roughly. Over brushing can cause the skin to become red and irritated.

Does it work you ask? I don’t really know. I must say that I am a little skeptical, but my friend claims it does. I guess for ten bucks, what could it hurt, right?!
