I love my mom. She has been such a great example in so many ways over the years. She is really positive and super happy all of the time. (well, okay… most of the time) One thing that I have always been amazed about is her acceptance of herself the way she is. Some women spend hours trying to improve their looks in order to feel better about themselves. My mom is so not one of these types of women.
She has never really worn much makeup and she doesn’t spend a lot of time fretting over her appearance. As she gets older, she doesn’t try to hide or cover up the wrinkles that are starting to show. Now, don’t get me wrong… My mom likes to look nice, and she takes care of herself, but she just doesn’t try to change who she is. It has been a great example to me and has taught me how to be more accepting of my own imperfections.
She has helped me to relax about my concerns on how I look or what I don’t like about myself, which hasn’t always been easy. I hope that I can be the same kind of example to my daughter as she continues to grow and mature. So what if I have a few wrinkles around my eyes and mouth. It’s part of who I am.
